Participates in the exhibition Como Vai Você, Generation 80?, held at the School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage (EAV / Parque Lage), in Rio de Janeiro, in 1984. The following year she teaches at this institution, where she becomes core coordinator of engraving and drawing. She also teaches at the Faculty of Architecture of Estácio de Sá University. In 2000, she received the Bolsa RioArte, with the Painting Project in Urban Space – Outdoors. Between 2000 and 2002, she studied the master’s degree in visual arts at EBA / UFRJ. She received the 1st Prize for Projectiles of Contemporary Art, from Funarte, with the project for the Topos installation, in 2005. In 2008, two books about her are published: Suzana Queiroga, with text by Paulo Sérgio Duarte, and Velofluxo, text by Fernando Cocchiarale.Suzana is initially dedicated to engraving. Her first individual exhibitions, in 1980 and 1981, as well as her first award: Engraving Prize at the VI National Salon of Plastic Arts in Porto Alegre are due to Queiroga’s experiences in this technique. It is possible to see something of the graphic works in the series of reliefs Niger, made in cut and enamelled wood. This series brings the black and white work typical of the engraving, but transferred to another medium. The artist had already experimented with strong chromatic compositions since 1984, with the acrylic series on wood entitled Lék. The discussion of bidimensionality and the questioning of the boundaries between the categories painting and sculpture bring the artist closer to the discussions raised by neoconcretism. Issues present since the beginning of Queiroga’s work – opposition between geometry and organic form, integration of real space with pictorial space, activation of the environment through clipping or leaked surfaces – accompany the artist to more recent works such as the inflatable series Tropeços em Paradoxos (2002). The investigation of color and line in the two-dimensional support also continues, as in the Velofluxo series (2006-2008). Her work has an intense affective charge. Her color palette is deeply influenced by nature. She participated in several art shows, individual and collective shows, in Brazil and abroad. Award winning artist, has her work recognized internationally.
